It’s completely normal to feel uncertain about starting therapy, especially if it’s your first time. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy—many people seek support to better understand themselves, navigate life transitions, improve their relationships, or process past traumas.
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply curious about how therapy could help, I encourage you to reach out. We can have a conversation about what you're looking for and help you determine if therapy feels like the right fit for you.

The frequency of therapy depends on your needs, goals, and what feels most supportive for you. Research shows that weekly sessions lead to better treatment outcomes. Meeting consistently helps build a strong therapeutic relationship, allows for deeper exploration rather than just “catching up,” and provides more focused time to practice and integrate new insights.
For these reasons, I typically recommend starting with weekly sessions for the first 4–6 weeks. From there, we’ll reassess and adjust based on your needs. If scheduling or financial limitations come into play, we can work together to find a plan that feels sustainable for you.
-
The length of therapy is a personal decision and depends on what you’re looking for. Some clients find that a few sessions help them gain clarity and move forward with confidence, while others prefer a longer-term process to explore deeper patterns and create lasting change.
Research suggests that concerns like stress and anxiety often show significant improvement within 15 to 20 sessions. For more complex challenges, such as processing past trauma, the timeline can vary. Therapy is an investment—both emotionally and financially—so it’s important to find a pace that feels right for you. We’ll regularly check in on your progress and adjust as needed to ensure therapy continues to support your goals.

Yes, I accept Aetna, Optum, United Healthcare, Oscar, Oxford, Meritain, UMR, and UHC Student Resources. After your consultation, I’ll verify your insurance benefits and provide details on your coverage, including copays, deductibles, and any out-of-pocket costs.
-
If I’m not in-network with your insurance provider and your plan includes out-of-network benefits, you may still be able to get reimbursed for sessions. In this case, you would pay my standard therapy fee at the time of your appointment, and I would provide you with a superbill—a detailed receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for partial reimbursement.
Every insurance plan is different, so I recommend checking with your provider to understand your out-of-network coverage. If you have any questions about this process, I’m happy to help!

Checking your out-of-network benefits is simple! Just call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card and ask if your plan includes out-of-network coverage for mental or behavioral health services. If it does, you can ask the following questions to better understand your benefits:
Do I have a mental or behavioral health policy with out-of-network benefits?
Is pre-approval required before I can receive out-of-network services?
Do I have an out-of-network deductible? If so, how much has been met?
What is my reimbursement rate per therapy session?
How do I submit a claim for reimbursement?
Will I be reimbursed the full amount I paid or only a portion?
If your insurance company asks for billing codes, you can provide these:
90791 (Initial assessment)
90834 and 90837 (Individual therapy sessions)

Yes, therapy is a confidential space where you can share openly and feel safe. What we discuss in our sessions stays between us, as confidentiality is essential for building trust and supporting your healing process.
However, there are a few legal exceptions where I am required to break confidentiality:
If you express a clear intent to harm yourself or someone else, and there is an immediate risk.
If there is suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or dependent adult.
If a court orders the release of therapy records or testimony.
These situations are rare, and if a confidentiality limit arises, I will do my best to discuss it with you beforehand and provide support throughout the process. My priority is always to maintain your privacy while ensuring safety and well-being.

I ask for at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will incur the full session fee.
I understand that emergencies happen, and in those cases, I may be able to reschedule your session based on availability. If you need to cancel, please try to do so as early as possible—this helps me accommodate other clients who may be waiting for an appointment.
-
I accept all major credit cards through IvyPay, a HIPAA-secure payment app designed specifically for therapy services. I ask that all clients keep an active card on file to cover session fees, as well as any additional charges for late cancellations, missed appointments, or documentation requests.
